How is elected officials being arrested for asking for a warrant, or asking questions not already horrifically dramatic? How is sending our own military and arresting civilians in L.A. not already horrifically dramatic? Where the fuck is your line? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 child) Unfortunately, there is plausible deniability that allow the US government to do what they're doing. In spite of some rulings which tell Trump administration that they are wrong, there are still some actions where they have legal backing, moral or not. Legal =/= moral. That's just how the world works I'm afraid. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 child) I'm sorry, I guess my initial reply was too many words to be understood fully. So I'll be more succinct. **Something horrifically dramatic has already happened, it's already time for us to use our 2A rights for communal self defense. ** Otherwise I agree with what you just said, but I felt like you missed my point, so I wanted to say it in no uncertain terms. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) I understand what you mean. What I am saying is that people are overlooking because any perceived red lines haven't been crossed yet. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) The fuck do you mean no perceived red lines have been crossed? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 child) Ask the Americans what they perceive to be red lines. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) Actual lines that they have codified into law have been crossed. Your statement is pointless. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago Well, society is still run on the abstract and unwritten social contract as much as on the codified law. People still haven't taken up arms, so the perceived red lines haven't been crossed. If what Trump has been doing happened twenty or thirty years ago, it would not have been acceptable (previous presidents from both parties got more public backlash simply for lying and adultery and ruined their political careers than Trump). But expectations changed and here we are. That's just how the world works whether you care to admit it or not. permalink fedilink source parent
