Spider bites that result in serious complication are exceedingly rare. Almost undocumented since the time of proper record keeping and unheard of since anti-venoms where introduced in the US and Australia. With that out of the way .. It looked at spider bites on doctors records and indeed, about 70% they could attribute to common skin conditions (of course, common with hindsight). That leaves very little "confirmed cases" of spider bites and in many of them it's just because that's what the chart said and no other explaination could be found.
