BYD has suspended its plans to launch its passenger electric vehicles in Canada due to a 100% federal tariff on EV imports from China. While BYD had been planning to enter the Canadian market and had been engaging with potential Canadian distributors and lobbyists, the tariffs discouraged their plans. BYD has also opened its first bus assembly plant in Canada.
