[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) The suit is a 20th century invention. Someone might "know what it was", i.e. it's a jacket that doesn't close properly and matching pants. But, they didn't exist until the 20th century. It's a matter of time before they finally go out of fashion, and people look at them like we look at men wearing tights and shirts with puffy sleeves. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] CaptnNMorgan@lemmy.world 1 point 1 year ago* (1 child) Nah. It was invented in the 17th century. Edit: and the suits from the 18th century look almost exactly the same as ours https://myhistoryfix.com/fashion/mens-suits-history/ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] merc@sh.itjust.works 1 point 1 year ago (1 child) You think suits from the 18th century look almost exactly the same as ours? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] CaptnNMorgan@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago Not that far off permalink fedilink source parent
