They would gain both but setting an example. As much as I wish the killer was still out there so people would have a folk hero to look up to in these trying times, I can't deny that this is probably the same person.

    Luigi did it and Luigi is a fucking hero, that’s my belief. I don’t see how that’s so offensive to the conspiracy theorists.

    I presume it's because they want to believe their hero is still out there, and saying that their hero is probably gonna receive the death penalty bursts their fantasy bubble.

    it's because they don't want the hot guy to be a killer because it causes cog dissonance and they dont want to have to deal with the work of doing the deep philosophical thinking that we've done on this situation.
