If I actually answered this I'd have to write a whole book. So the one that's most important to me is the band Love, in the top 3 bands ever IMO, they're far from unknown but really underrated IMO.

And "favorite genre" is an impossible thing to answer, therefore the "needing to write a whole book a real answer", easier is favorite bands but even that is hard and changes.
