Giving Trump unchecked power to destroy America would normally give "political points" to those who think it is a bad idea. Using the shutdown, and refusal/veto of clean CR, to destroy America might still let congress including GOP to try and stop it, instead of giving Trump those unchecked powers to never be questioned on it.
