I already explained why I don't care to visit MeanwhileOnGrad, it just serves as an outlet for the most obsessed anticommunists to witch-hunt and jeer using out of context screenshots, where the mods complain about "wokeness" and "DEI."
To be clear, jlai.lu was upset at an out-of-context clipping and chose to hate on Algerians, when it's very clear that France is not clean of colonial attitudes. From Macron:
“I think that they forgot to say ‘thank you’. It does not matter, it will come with time,” Mr Macron said, in a speech to French ambassadors on Jan 6.
“We did the right thing,” he said of the military deployment, adding that “none” of the states of the Sahel region would be “sovereign” today without that intervention.
This then turned to some jlai.lu users accusing Hexbear users of being fascists and using ableist terms like "MAGAt*rd" that some jlai.lu users walked back after being called out on it, but the damage was done and understandably Hexbear came back to answer such accusations.
It's extremely condescending to think of yourself as some "helper." This attitude, plus the intention to shame users into apologizing for what you percieve as injustices, will always get in the way of you actually trying to talk to people and get them to see your way. It's chauvanism.
