Hi guys, I hope you can help me answer this question. Does the new Jolla Phone have the capability of being used as a "desktop" device if you plug-in the monitor via the usb-c? I am getting some different answers on the internet, so it would be nice to get a clear answer since this could be a dealbreaker for me.

Hi guys, As I can see on reddit forums, it seems like people has paid and orders been shipped for Batch 3 around june/july this year. This must mean the first couple of batches already has been shipped, or am I wrong? I am still excited and curious to hear from people, what their experience are with the phone, since I am thinking about placing an pre-order for the next batch shipping at the end of september. Do people in here know what is going on?

I'm not the developer of this app, I just spotted it and noticed nobody had done any post about it here.

It's clearly early days: You can't create posts or comments and the UX could use some work. But it has a lot of potential and now we can count LinuxMobile to the supported platforms.

I'm looking at development tools state and are surprised there are no higher level languages officially supported. From what I read, there are only C/C++ and QT on low level side and interpreted Python on higher end. Or am I missing something?

If there were to be apps on this OS/Phone, a proper business level languages are critical (thinking .NET/C#, Kotlin, Swift and such, perhaps even Rust).

As a daily user of the Graphene ROM, I can attest to the benefits of its many enhanced security features.

I just like the full freedom of Linux. There are reasons why systemd on pmOS can be more flexible than Termux on GOS. I also think pmOS is getting close to the robust experience GOS offers (if it could just get stable for Fairphone 6/present generation).

I guess we will just have to wait and see how the Motorola + Graphene result turns out. Should be good. Practice patience!

You know, another major mobile phone company, Nokia, worked closely with Volla and benefited from their knowlege base in Finland. Perhaps Mr. Mickay will be introduced to talents equal to his own who work on the hardware level. There are whole teams that work on the software of @sailfishos and @postmarketOS
It is impressive that just one person can be the leading developer of an object you would think almost everyone would want in our age: a secure and privacy-protecting phone.

Does anyone have experience with @sailfishos on the @PINE64 #PinePhone? I would like to run some #banking and #fitness #Apps (#Wahoo #bike ELEMNT, #Garmin #Watch). With pleasure, I pay for a license 😉.

The OS doesn't currently support many of the community apps most users would consider "required," and the git repos are not showing much activity yet. Keep in mind that you should check compatibility.

• The Captive Portal at my Hyatt hotel does not function. It recognises the DNS captive redirect but never brings it up. At another public wifi, I was able to trick the browser with a Desktop Mode request.
• Apps crash and get into a weird state. Through all the wifi testing, I would find a race condition where only a reboot would clear and allow changing SSID
• Android is way faster and more seamless. Kudos for the out-of-the-box install of both Fdroid and Aurora Store.
• The camera is WAY better than the original Jolla phones, but it could be better. The video recording is unstable, and I have yet to capture it. I will post some images comparing it with my Samsung Fold 6.
• The keyboard was one of the first things I loved about the OS many years ago, but the lack of autocorrect and guessing makes day-to-day usage challenging. I would see if the FUTO team would be interested in porting some of the techs over, as that's a tremendous local-first Android keyboard.
• The lack of a fingerprint reader is TOUGH. The pin entry gets laborious.
• The OS took a few hours to settle. There was some memory issue I couldn't debug, but after a few hours, the phone seemed to finish whatever it was doing and became less stuttering with basic tasks.
• I'm amazed at how far the OS has come in the past 10+ years. It is still as intuitive as I remember the first versions. The pedigree from Meego still makes me smile big, as did the first N800 boot.

I have more to share, but those are my first 24 hours with the phone in SIM-less mode, primarily on wifi.

I finally have my Jolla C2 phone! I can't wait to get home and set it down next to my old Nokia MID and original community Jolla phone. Since it's not for sale in the US, one of my friends brought it to me. I will write up more after playing with it, but here are some potato photos from my hotel room for now. Size compare with my Fold 6

My Jolla C2 preorder has shipped. I'm not sure if anyone else has received a notification.
