Accessibily mapping is something that OSM does really well, and which is lacking in other map services. This is a really good introduction to (wheelchair) accessibility mapping.

Hello openstreetmap community! A friend forwarded me their project yesterday : to map allergy awareness in restaurants. Yes the thing is broad and cumbersome but it's only ar this occation that I realised osm didn't provide keys to reflect allergy trust or allergic risk. It is still emerging as a science but transparency laws have landed -- in france at least -- so there should be a way. Which lead me to this : has someone knowledge of a discussion on that topic? I looked around already but in vain.

So far there are only 2 inter-provincial routes in the app, but the more you/we/they map, the better the app becomes.

Okay, I know "now" is a couple months out-of-date, but I didn't know this until today, so I figured some other people might not either.

I have both OsmAnd and CoMaps, and I generally prefer OsmAnd for its extensive customizability, Carto render, and the fact it can be kept more up-to-date. So it surprised me it didn't have the option to view 3D buildings, since OSM for a long time now has kept track of information like building levels (building:levels), height (height), and even building parts with varying levels and heights. OsmAnd introduced this with Version 5.3 on April 21 for Android and April 24 for iOS.

Note that there are many towns and cities where this data either doesn't exist yet or is incomplete, but even then, buildings will default to building:levels=1 in terms of the heightmap, so it'll still give you some "texture", so to speak (and show where you can personally improve the map if you contribute).

This was one of the few things on OsmAnd I was really missing from CoMaps, so it's great to see it!

Edit: Looks like there's a "level of detail" suboption for building part levels, i.e. where different parts of the same building can have different levels.

Hi there!

I like to spend my evenings mapping world, city and transportation, but wonder myself if there any kinda non-profit or small organizations that donate tips to local map contributors?

Maybe some city councils, emergency services, logistic companies and so on?

Thanks a lot

Call to all #openstreetmap enthusiasts! What accounts do you follow in the #fediverse? I am based in #London #UK but noticed that both @openstreetmap@en.osm.town and @OSMLondon have stopped posting in April. @openstreetmap@lemmy.ml looks alive and well, any other? Keen to go to local meetings and get a feel, then I'll eventually want to collaborate on mapping third spaces and music venues, I can see dedicated tags already. Thanks!

ok so i'm trying to understand the structure of the whole OSM project. i generally like it but it's confusing and i'm confused.

i'm specifically looking for satellite image data (landscape as seen from above, no infrastructure data, just real photography). i like satellite images a lot because it provides a much better feel for the landscape than infrastructure data alone. such as: how many trees are there, how much nature is there around, ...

does OSM itself do this? (ideally without having to be logged in)

i found OpenMapTiles which seems to also provide satellite data; but i'm not sure what their relation to OSM is. are they a separate project?

- I know this is a bad way to express it but do wish that #streetcomplete and @MapComplete #mapcomplete would get together with @panoramax and gitlab.com/ravenfeld/baba to have a baby.

Streetcomplete is so good when you are wandering past somewhere and think "That shop or thing should be on Openstreetmap" - so you pull together some details into streetcomplete - but then you think "A few photos of this place would be really handy" so you open Baba and take some photos of the exterior or street around it but while they are geolocated next to the location they aren't linked to the shop/feature or whatever.

I'm tempted to jump into Mapcomplete because yes if its an existing place I can fill in some more details (once I go through and find the location in the relevant filters ) but if I've just added it it won't be in mapcomplete even though I would love to add those photos - answer a few questions about the place and even pop in a review.

What I've realised that is random geolocated street photos are a mine of geocodble info.

Don't get me wrong - all of these apps are amazing! - I'm so thankful to all the amazing work that people have done on them ... I recommend them to friends but I just wish I was skilled enough to help bring them together and make something even more beautiful ...

if i delete dependencies from lake-coast (wich is multypolygon by itself) and then cut it on fist and second forming dot's - then i can create new multypolygon from 2 lines but after doing so - lake is gone completely
