My trusty flat Five Tens are at the end of their life and I'm in need of new shoes. I ride SPD with my gravel bike and think my current clipless shoes for that are amazing.

That gets me to think maybe I should just ditch my flat pedals on mtb and get clipless. But I'm a little hesitant because of added risk of falling.

If you ride clipless on mtb or especially if you ride it both gravel and mtb, do you have any tips or thoughts to share?

After 50 pounds, 2k miles, and a countless smiles it’s time to upgrade from my Orbea Occam.

It’s been great but looking forward to what’s in the mail!

Anyone else looking forward to an upgrade?

What does it mean by pending, is there a moderator approval needed?

Since the rain schedule changed to Saturday I made it around one more time this week. Beat my moving time PR of 53:54 by 10 seconds for a new PR. I guess its progress even if it is only 10 seconds.

Description says it all. 3 years ago I hadn't hit a gap jump bigger than a bike length.

Hopefully I put on a good show

Between the rain and wildfire smoke its been about three weeks since I've been able to hit an MTB trail.

Spent a beautiful morning out on my Stache and enjoyed exploring. Found this fire pit that appears to have been made out of abandoned junk scavenged from the trail system.

Exploring on the bike is one of my favourite feelings. Seeing what’s behind a bend, up that hill, beyond that forest… it’s a never ending adventure.

Anyway rode a path I’ve ridden dozen of times and decided to finally follow a really nasty (as in overgrown) path I’ve never been down before. Literally down, as it as steep decent over loose gravel.

Man was it worth it. The path follows one of the local rivers and is actually a very decent and clean place to ride.

Can’t wait to explore even further

I bought a new mountain bike recently, and it has three sets of bottle cage mounts. But there's no way I could actually get two bottles inside the front triangle, and the third set is on the bottom of the down tube where I don't think I trust a bottle to stay anyway. So I have one bottle on the top of the down tube, but the other two mounts are currently unused.

I was using a Dakine Gripper on my old bike, but it never stayed in place, so I was hoping to find something like that that would mount directly to the bottle cage mounts. But I can't seem to find anything like this.

Does anything like this exist? What do you do with extra bottle cage mounts?

I'll be visiting ft Collins in early August and renting a bike. What are the best trails to check out around town. I'll be working until about 5 PM so the trails need to be reasonably close to the city and 2 to 3 hours in length so I can make it back before dark. I expect to have 3 to 4 evenings available.

I'm an intermediate rider. I will likely be renting a Ripley or Ripmo. Any suggestions on what trails to check out (or where/what bike to rent) are appreciated.

I never thought I would do this run, but this past weekend I finally managed to break through the mental barrier and execute. I cannot describe how ecstatic I was when I got on the on-off.
