So, inspired by this post from a couple of days ago, I made a punk song out of the poem! Since the poem is so old, and almost certainly in the public domain (I did some research, couldn't find much about it), I decided to release the song for free! You can download it out now! Or just listen to it, if permanence isn't your thing lol
Anyways, I had a lot of fun making it, so I hope you have a lot of fun hearing it! Enjoy!
A wonderful Lemmy user ordered this custom jellyfish several months ago. It's been a long time coming and he has been very gracious about it all which I am very thankful for.
It's made from hand pounded, recycled copper and local beach finds. It takes me about 40-50 hours in total to make one. This one is about 23 x 23 x 36 cm or 9 x 9 x 14 inches. They have been getting larger each go round as the originals were made for a 4" x 5" art show and sale. The next 3 will be even larger and are in process right now.
You can check out my profile for other copper artistic creations including the original 3 jellies I created in December/January for an art show and other fun stuff I like to create.
I have made a punk rock album, and it's finally out! If you like hard, loud, anti-authoritarian music made with open-source tools, then look no further! You've found it, your journey is over! Seriously, stop looking, it's just silly now...
Head on over to https://bandwagon.fm/@jimmyhalliday to hear it now for free! If you really like it, and just have to listen to it all the time, even when you've ventured beyond the veil and suddenly found yourself without reception, click on one of the links and buy a copy! If you're one of those streaming types, who would like to hear this on Spotify or the like, that's coming soon!
Be the envy of your friends, the toast of the town, and the apple of my eye ❤️ Check it out today!
I made an educational open source game for small kids (2-6 yo) where they can match cute animals (currently sea and dinosaur theme packs).
Features:
cute pictures
works on both a phone and a tablet
multiple theme packs
fully free, no tracking or anything
there are multiple flavours, one of which bundles all of the assets and doesn't even have the permission to access the internet <- great if you're extra cautious
big buttons, no reading necessary, small kids friendly
Found this hanging in the little kitchen thing at my kids Jiu Jitsu gym today (boxing, Jiu Jitsu and muay thai). It used to be a community center/church hall until recently. While I was making lunch for a seminar I spotted this gem and brought it home.
I Made it better with some gloves and belts. Now I will rehang it and see who notices.
I directed/edited/etc a new video for Jacobin Magazine on how and why to form a union in your workplace. Labor battles affect all of us every day, and as someone who hasn't had stable work in years it makes me particularly angry. Please watch/like/share/etc <3
I just saw this community, and wanted to cheer myself up with showing something I made one weekend a year or so ago. :)
It was meant to be a virtual goldfish bowl/screensaver gimmick to keep me company, but then I added interaction and it made me happy to feel like I was helping them? :)
Hope this is okay to share as I made this and the site it's embedded on (I didn't make itch.io that would be lots of work lol)
Didn't see this UFO, but I'm kind of sort of not godawful at landscape, and figured I'd try actually making the icon for the lemmy UAP community I made instead of relying on slop. Came out alright, I guess, at least as good as slop imo.
I made a little baseball bat years ago for that purpose and recently had fun making more different ones for friends.
As you can see I used a piece of rebar for the bat.
I "turned" it using a drill and angle grinder then going through different grains of sanding:
The lightsaber's hilt was made the same way, using a dremel tool to get more control on the details.
The "blade" is made of Corian, a synthetic stone commonly used for countertops.
The sword required a lot more precision to make and ended up okay but looking closely nothing is really symmetrical or straight...
I grinded it from a random stick of metal, the pommel is made from aluminum and the grip is two layers of sewing thread soaked in superglue, sanded, then superglued again.
A cross-guard would have added a lot of character but I didn't find a nice and easy enough way to do it, and I was short on time...
Jellies #1,2 and 3 were pieces I made for a local art show this winter. They are constructed of reclaim hand pounded copper and local beach wood and stones.
All sold
Commissioned custom jellies available on order.
I finally got a Lemmy sign in for just art stuff. You can contact me here for any inquiries about purchases or custom work. I've been transitioning from American social media and making new fedi accounts and spreading them about. I enjoy sharing my work here and Is m just looking for a new way to reach people with my artistic endeavors.
I should also add I am happy to arrange barter for goods or services as opposed to cash for art pieces.
3D Printed a Ghost Papa V mask to wear at the Skeletour!
Hey guys! First post here. I hope the movie link works.
I am a Ghost music fan. I’m printing myself, and my Nameless Ghoul friends, masks for the upcoming Summer 2025 Skeleta Skeletour.
This is a prototype mask before I start messing with the settings to custom fit everyone’s heads.
Mask Printed on an Adventurer 5M Pro with a 0.4 nozzle. Filament is PLA Kingroon Green/Blue/Red. Layer height is 0.2. Took about 2.5 hours or so—I print slower than the printer is probably capable. Spliced with Orcaslicer.
