I wish to switch over to Linux but the only machine l have at my disposal is my brother's laptop when it's free. It's a windows 10 machine. The only way l can work on Linux is by creating a virtual system on this machine.

I have this hp pavilion laptop from 2010, which cannot browse most of today's websites. I wondered to what use can l put it, considering l have no knowledge of computers.
