I'm picking up a lot of chatter on F1 socials where the Tifosi are now accusing Mercedes for corruption ever since the FIA has allowed both Mercedes and RBR to carry on with their 18:1 engine trick.
The Ferrari side of the fandom says that the rules explicitly mention that all regulations must be complied with "at all times" during each competitive session, referring to the skid plank disqualifications. They also refer to the 2019 Ferrari debacle of manipulating the fuel flow sensor which got their 'innovation' banned and left them languishing for the next 3 years.
Now the Merc fans say that the deliberate tampering of components is starkly different from exploiting physics and ambient temperature tricks (which does make sense to some extent).
The compliance at all times part is also reasonable, but it's next to impossible to measure as was the case with the flexi-wings tests of 2024.
What are you thoughts on this? Was Ferrari hit harder for their 'innovation'?
