I've been working on degoogling and overall shifting away from the problem corps etc, I finally made the switch away from android (as much as I can for the moment) and picked up the FP6/e. Overall, it'll due for what I need and the fact that I want to be on my phone less.

However, I need help on the music side! Ive had a Spotify for a decade now and am dragging my feet on the switch because life is busy and that's a lot of curated playlists I'm not ready to part with yet. Issue is, Spotify just doesn't work consistently on the FP, randomly stops, won't play, will recommend I play downloaded music while it buffers when I'm already listening to downloaded stuff, god forbid I skip a song or change tracks in anyway. It freezes up, same with podcasts, can't skip their mid episode ads because it'll freeze up again.

So, I figured I'd let this be the push I need to finally break free and download audio directly to the device. I'm still trying to figure out a way to just import my playlists and pirate them as is (if someone wants to throw me a bone there too, Id appreciate it), but I started with some podcasts that allow direct download. The phone does not allow me to listen to more than 40 sec before it pauses, I press play again, it restarts, and pauses again at the 30-40sec mark. I skip ahead and it plays the file where I skip to correctly, but stops after the same time frame. Also doesn't allow me to speed up the playback more than 1.9 (I usually keep it at x2-2.5, people talk slow).

I really want to enjoy this phone and all that it stands for, I don't need the top camera quality (I barely take pics as is), I don't need the fastest speeds, or the most RAM (I'm not a gamer). I need it to do basic phone functions, search the internet, tell time, and let me listen to audio files. Music in the ear keeps the voices in the rear!

I would be very grateful for any assistance here!

Someone forked Fairphone Moments and put it on F-droid. On devices without a switch it doesn't really make sense, but for people using eg Iodé OS on the FP6 this might come in handy

Recently got my fp5 from warranty repair, it went well and just wanted to drop a quick report on how it looks. The problem with the phone was that the bottom microphone stopped working.

1. It was really difficult for me to finally find the page where you can submit a warranty repair request. After meandering through useless support pages I ended up on the page shown below, which is where you submit a repair request (the green "easy repairs" button:

2. Then you click the "diagnose issue" button

3. You are then redirected to https://fairphone.b2x.com/ where the website guides you through the warranty repair request process. It asks you for the usual stuff like IMEI but also requests you to open the Android diagnostics menu thing to check audio (my issue was about audio, so with other issues it may be different), which I also followed.

4. You then get an UPS shipping label. This part was also confusing because after you submit the repair request you get a few e-mails. One of those e-mails is a return label for when the repair is done or something? There's no label to print in that e-mail. I don't really remember super well what I did but either you open one of those e-mails that you get and go to the Cordon Electronics website and generate a label there, or you just get the label in one of the e-mails, it just may be in one of a few UPS e-mails that you get.

I didn't pay anything for the shipping (to France from Poland and back).

5. I removed the SD and sim card, factory reset my phone (this isn't absolutely necessary, just for privacy), packed the phone into the original packaging that I still had. My phone had the bootloader unlocked so on boot it flashes the scary message about "something something bootloader unlocked if you touch this phone you die immediately".

You also need to print 2 pages and include them in the package. The e-mails that you get after submitting the request also ask you to include printed proof of purchase (invoice that I just had on my e-mail acct) and a printed out page that contains info about your repair request (Cordon Electronics sends it to your e-mail, you just print it).

Slapped the UPS label I received to my e-mail on the package and threw it into a local package locker. It was shipped to France.

6. I shipped it out on December 15h, it reached them on the 19th, and they shipped it back on the 23rd. Because of the holidays the phone reached me on January 5th, but in normal circumstances you can assume that normally it'd also take 4 days.

7. I got the phone back with the battery removed so I had to pop it back in. I checked if the mic worked and it did. I also got a printed repair summary back, saying what they replaced. In my case it was the motherboard ribbon cable. It also said they preventatively updated the software (?) - I thought I had the latest available but they might've just installed it anyway.

I wonder if the repair wasn't just removing the ribbon cable, turning it 180 degrees and popping it back in, as I can see in the pictures it has a direction lmao. I was messing with the internals before and might've damaged the ribbon cable myself. It's interesting that the ribbon cable isn't available as a spare part in the Fairphone store. If it broke past the warranty, I'd probably have to look for some dodgy replacement.

Anyone else had any problems with the USB-C port on the Fairphone 4? It seems to need replacing about once a year. Is there a fix for it? I read on a forum that there is a slight gap that causes the port to move slightly with usage, causing it to wear out quicky. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my Fairphone 4; I just replaced the battery, back cover, and USB-C port this week. The only other complaint I have, is the battery: it's low capacity and was pretty much unusable after 2.5 years of usage. Probably still the best phone I've owned, even with all it's flaws, and I plan on using it for another 4-5 years at least. Have to stockpile on USB-C ports or wedge a piece of plastic in the gap.

Off-topic: bought a flip case with card holders for 35€, but it was originally 50€?! What sort of math is that? It takes 3-5€ to make it. But it was the only one that was available and now I don't have to carry around a wallet at least.

I am trying to get one in the USA, but it is way more expensive than in the EU, and amlost twice the cost of the parts alone as listed in ifixit.

Are these all the components I need or am I missing something?

Murena sells spare parts for the Fairbuds & Fairbuds XL in the USA now. But they removed the one and only spare part listed for the Fairphone 6 (I don't remember what the part was). Was it ever even in stock? Why don't they give us more transparency on these things?

It's not a bootloop per-se because the restart comes after the phone has booted but it keeps doing it so it's somewhat similar. If you see this update, perhaps hold off for a bit.

Finally finished the case! Editing took longer than expected, finding time in between, work, being a parent and the rest of life is not the easiest. But luckily I used to play Tetris as a child.

For some reason saturation of the red colours went up, or it looks like it, after rendering the project. Haven't had that happen when editing and rendering in blender but I used Kdenlive for this project. If any of you have any idea what it could be I would love to know, cause I like the workflow of Kdenlive.
