Decided to make this community for the game I love to help see it grow here. I currently intend for this community to encompass all things Destiny, including Destiny 1 and 2, but we'll see how things go and adjust from there.

A few rules are located within the sidebar, as well as some community resources, creators, and other Lemmy communities.

Until an automated solution is found, weekly and daily reset information can be found here at D2 Checklist, also linked in the sidebar, unless myself or other members create reset posts, TWID posts, etc. Go share this community around and try to help grow it!

Feel free to make suggestions for the community here as well. All input is welcomed!

For new Lemmy users, here is a a quick guide to Lemmy. This guide is for lemmy.world, the instance we're located in, but the basics of how Lemmy works applies to any instance.

Think it would be a good idea to keep this community active enough, not sure how difficult that would be to implement though.

Locked Loadouts... (lemmy.world)

Man anyone else just super tired of locked loadouts? Every.single.activity...

Renegades ViDoc (www.youtube.com)

Looks cool but IDK if it's enough to bring me back to D2.

Pros:

  • I dig the look of the syndicates. Vex wearing clothes is funny.
  • The Star Wars stuff is less overwhelming than I thought it would be.
  • Customizable lightsabers
  • They put Helldivers in Destiny
  • Back to Mars

Cons:

  • It's more Destiny with slightly different activities and set dressing.

Pinning this thread for the next few weeks for Edge of Fate discussion. Spoilers are allowed here so browse at your own risk.

I haven't been keeping up with pre-release Edge of Fate stuff but Datto and other content creators went to a preview event recently and just posted their videos yesterday. Here's a few from Datto that explain some of the stuff changing and what's new in Edge of Fate.

Answering your tough Edge of Fate Questions

How you'll level up in Edge of Fate

How stats are changing in Edge of Fate

Edge of Fate Exotic Armor

Edge of Fate Exotic Weapons

Meta stuff is fine but I enjoy creative and unique rolls and loadouts in this game. Find anything that floats yer boat? Show us what you got.

I’ve been busy with life so haven’t been able to play or farm as much as I’d like. Hopefully I can next week and when all three dungeons become available.

Posting this to show how much Star Wars they're trying to cram into this.

Highlights:

  • Emissary of the Nine frees herself from their control?
  • Beginning of "The Fate Saga" which will span multiple years. Content announced through the end of 2027 at least.
  • First expansion is "Edge of Fate" second is "Renegades"
  • New guardian character Lodai seems to be important to the story.
  • New location is Kepler, a large object in the Oort Cloud that is covered in dark matter.
  • Guardians infuse their light and dark powers with dark mater to create new abilities.
  • Showcase ability is Matterspark, which turns your guardian into a ball of Arc energy that functions identically to the Morph Ball in Metroid Prime.
  • There are some attacks and abilities tied to Matterspark
  • Some gameplay of manipulating the landscape to create paths for you to travel to as a Matterspark.
  • Sounds like you'll need to go to specific points on the map to activate Matterspark.
  • New enemies added to factions. We see some Jetpack Fallen called corsairs and some new suicide vex drones I didn't catch the name of.
  • House of Exile Fallen are on Kepler, Vex are also on Kepler.
  • World Tiers increase difficulty and open up new options for completing missions/objectives.
  • There's a highly customizable difficulty setting for activities. TBH I couldn't really pay attention to this.
  • Armor 3.0 allows stats to go over 100, energy all unlocked at start but can go above 10 slots, gear set bonuses (finally).
  • Guns also have tiers up to 5 so far. Showing guns with EVERY perk as enhanced and up to 3 per column.
  • Tier 5 weapons have special cosmetics.
  • Firing range with summonable enemies is FINALLY added to the tower.
  • New Portal screen that Replaces the Director, supposed to make it easier to get into content quicker.
  • Can now hit the power cap entirely playing Crucible.
  • Content roadmap shown. Two expansions per year. One Major update between Expansions? (I'll have to try and find this to confirm.)
  • We are returning to the Plaguelands in this year's major update "Ash and Iron". Not clear if we're getting that level of update each time.
  • New Raid on July 19th. No other details.
  • No Land Beyond returns as "New Land Beyond". Available as a pre-order bonus now.
  • Renegades is explicitly Star Wars themed. We get Han Solo's Blaster and a lightsaber.
  • Additional Pre-Order bonuses include a Kylo Ren set for Warlocks, Darth Vader set for Titans, and General Grevious set for Hunters. Along with an, EoF Emote, Ghost, and Emblem.
  • Rites of the Nine launches today and acts as the intro to Edge of Fate.

I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I forgot to mention so I encourage everyone to watch the stream. I'll try to post more info as it becomes available.

Bungie will reveal the next expansion/update/episode/whatever for Destiny 2 on May 6th. Teaser image looks like it'll involve The Nine and what appears to be a black hole?

Guess we'll see what they've been up to and how big we can expect the future expansions to be.

I don't play the game anymore, but I'm feeling a touch nostalgic. Let me hear your wildest callouts and I'll see if I can figure out the activity and mechanic. I haven't played since Salvation's Edge week one, so maybe limit it to all D2 raids and dungeons pre that, but I'm down to hear about what's currently going on in the game too! I've included a high contrast set of icons I made for easy pattern recognition in Vow, we also used it a bit like a bingo card trying to fill it in with silly callouts and use them for a run.

Like how can they even release this stuff. And every time it bugs out you have to go to or it and then schlep all the way back.

What (lemmy.world)

Hit a public event flag. Both special and power weapons were at 0 since I've been messing around with stuff

16

I’ve been running chaos reach with the legs (can’t remember the name offhand). Any other exotics y’all have been using that’s been great for the arc stuff this season?

17

With the recent glaive buffs I've grown to really enjoy them (the slow reload hurt them for me). Previously I liked Vexcalibur due to its many perks, but that was it. Then Bungie caught my attention when it teased a Strand glaive for Act 2.

However, if you look at its perk pool, it's barely a strand glaive - it only has a single Strand-related perk. Granted, not having Tear makes sense since glaives don't crit. But what about Hatchling or Slice?

Missed opportunity in my book. What do y'all think?

We can argue about which mechanics are tedious or have too many steps, but try to stay high-level with me for just a sec. The central draw, I feel, is that they allow us to just play the game and get the drops we want.

We don’t have to stop what we’re doing, load into a vendor, run around in some cases to find them, then mindlessly click an engram button for a few minutes. You just set of Tome of Want ritual (or pop a Tonic), start playing, and the drops roll in.

These systems are a great way to remove friction, making it easier and faster to chase the weapons we want. I liked tonics once I understood the system, although I get the complaint that they’re heavy-handed—too many pointless new ingredients to monitor and we still need to stop playing at least sometimes to go make more tonics (a process that is also clunky with too many steps).

This is why I quite like the Tome as an evolution and simplification of this system: It only needs two ingredients that naturally drop while you play, and you can pop a new Ritual for a different weapon whenever you want, even in the middle of a fight.

I hope this ‘live focus system’ sticks around in future expansions and seasons. How do other people feel?

I'm getting increased traffic screen (possible but unlikely in the middle of the day Pacific ...) then the version of destiny 2 is no longer available.

TWID 1/16/2025 (www.bungie.net)
submitted 2 years ago by [M] to c/destiny@lemmy.world

This is the first TWID we’ve gotten with some substance in a while. TL;DR:

  • New Dungeon is called Sundered Doctrine. Takes place in Rhulks Pyramid. Dungeon race starts Feb 7th.
  • New Arc Verb: Bolt Charge. Builds up stacks to release the Arc equivalent of an Ignition with ability damage. Having more stacks also builds melee charge.
  • Three new aspects added. Hunters get a Void one while Titans and Warlocks get arc. There’s videos in the article that preview them.
  • Hunters go invisible to mark nearby targets. Defeating targets grants stacks of a buff and creates a smoke cloud.
  • Titans cast class ability to grant Bolt Charges. Standing behind a barricade with max stacks allows you to call down lightning with weapons instead of abilities.
  • Warlocks get an Arc Turret (like the stasis turret) that blinds enemies.
  • Lots of balance changes I’m not going to list here.
  • New event like Rivens Wishes called Past is Prologue starting this coming reset.

With the Wisper mission back, does anyone know if it still has the infinite spawn under the green room? It would be nice to level weapons

4 years later. Where can I read up on major changes, esp about which weapons to keep and which to scrap etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Tx

Prismatic Deep Dive (www.bungie.net)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by [M] to c/destiny@lemmy.world

TL;DR:

  • Prismatic will feature a "selection" of abilities from all 5 subclasses. Not everything from every subclass will be available.
  • All movement abilities will be available (phoenix dive, thruster, etc.)
  • Focus is on underused abilities that combo well with those in other subclasses.
  • First mission of TFS will give you a complete Prismatic subclass.
  • They have charts in the article that show what each class is getting. It's too much for a TL;DR
    • Abilities with (starting) in this chart are the ones you get right away.
    • It's still quite a good list of options for each class. It's not like they took two from each and said done.
    • Most of the "meta" stuff is not in prismatic. Well and Banner of war are not available for example.
  • Additional abilities will be unlocked in campaign, post-campaign, and through collectibles in the world.
  • Abilities that required a specific damage type that have moved into Prismatic now can activate off any damage instead of just Void for example.
  • Fill up the dark and light meters to activate Transcendence and get a special grenade.
    • Hunter: Solar/Stasis grenade that sends out a slowing cyclone then a scorching one. Attaches to surfaces like a tripmine.
    • Titan: Strand/Arc grenade that suspends targets then jolts them over time.
    • Warlock: Void/Stasis grenade that sucks enemies in and slows them before exploding.
  • 21 new Fragments that are not damage specific for Prismatic. Some of them are listed in the article. Too much to cover in a TL;DR
