At first, I didn't really understand how Lemmy, Kbin, PieFed, etc. worked so I made at least 5-6 different accounts across multiple Lemmy instances that happened to mostly be federated with each other (though Beehaw seems to have fallen to the wayside, possibly due to its odd refusal to update its Lemmy version, from what I can tell). Edit to clarify: each account is a unique username on a different instance; no two are alike in any way (other than, apparently, probably my linguistic style that AI can purportedly analyze to trace back to me 🤖).

Once I finally understood how this stuff works (it's definitely more complex than Reddit and I still don't know how to search for posts within a community; it doesn't even seem possible in multiple mobile apps), I realized that they were sort of needless, yet also helpful for anonymity and diversification in case different instances go down.

So now I rotate through them regularly to make it maybe, possibly a bit harder to track me, while also perhaps giving the illusion of Lemmy having more people than it actually has to make it seem more populated and try to usher growth of its user base. (I haven't actually straight-up lied and commented on my own posts with other accounts, though, haha; it's just too much work to do that and that would somewhat defeat the interest in anonymity.)

By the way, is there no 2FA on here? Having none makes me think that we should all have multiple, non-throwaway accounts anyway, just in case, then...

I've been in a lot of "my life could end right now" moments. But the one that stands out is when I was standing in an ambulance after rolling my truck. There was a cop just two feet from me. I was noticeably drunk. That's when my gun fell out and hit the floor.

I looked at it. Looked at her. I knew that since I was still alive that if I reached down to grab it that I wouldn't be. "I am just going to leave that there for you to decide what to do with it."

I had fully expected to have to show up at the sheriff's office and be all "I believe you have a stapler" It wasn't until a few days later that I learned they handed it off to the tow truck driver to hold until I came to collect the other things in my truck. I was relieved to find out that I just had to show up at a wrecking yard and say "I believe you have my stapler."

Anyway, the moment that gun hit the floor I was very grateful that it was a P365 and not a P320. Because, as you may know, the P320 has a habit of going off when dropped. And I was grateful that the cop saw me looking at the gun on the floor and deciding that that was a thing that just happened and I had already used up all my do-dumb-things points for the day and wasn't going to reach for it. If this were just about any other local cop I would have had a gun pointed at me.

Don't drink and drive. Don't carry a P320. Don't reach for your weapon. Always be polite. Argue with judges, not cops. Always know where your towel is. Never tell the cops where you came from. Never, ever, reach for your gun when it's on the floor and a cop is there.

I dont think the country i live in is really my country either. I just temporarily rent space here until I die.

It's my landlord's country.

It's the corporation's country.

It's the 1%'s country.

Not mine. Not ours. Not yet.

I ate so many Olive Garden breadsticks for dinner that I had to wake up twice to have diarrhea. Right now I'm empty but the situation is so dire that I can't trust a fart.

Those breadsticka are so damn good.
