idk if this will be a popular or unpopular suggestion. because on the one hand, vtuber cringe, but on the other hand, you might see less vtuber posting in c/videos. this could potentially be the first online vtuber community not overrun by coomers. alternatively there could be one for clips of streamers in general.

This would be a community to post photos of animals (snakes wearing ushankas, indoor cats etc.), talk about pets, that sort of thing. It would be distinguished from /c/Earth by focusing on mainly domestic animals rather than wild ones, but I wouldn't be opposed to having it include them as well.

I thought we had one but it's not loading so I guess we don't.

So anyways, this is a community that is on blahaj which I thought was a great idea. I was planning on making a post there until the recent stuff happened, but honestly it might be better to have a similar community here anyways.

It would serve 2 purposes in my mind:

1. Give people a very visible platform to introduce themselves and discuss hobbies and interests that would be less likely to show up or would be less visible in conversation elsewhere. Could be games, books, anime, Gunpla kits, interest in learning a language, making fursuits, or whatever else.

2. Give a welcome and safe place for cool people from other instances who want to say hello and make friends here. This community has been up for 3 years now, and of course has its own lore, in-jokes, etc. that might be a little intimidating for newcomers who are shy. This would be a place to break through that and get to know people better.

This website is cool, but it has a lot of censored posts and comments. It would be a good show to open up the modlog and allow people to comment and debate on the content being censored. I fully doubt this request will be considered, but I had to bring it up.

It’s funny and I would moderate it

There have been a lot of requests for new comms lately and not even a discussion of actually implementing any of them that I've seen. That isn't really fun or welcoming to new people. It makes the site feel static and unevolving.

Yes, we already have a fair number of comms and a pretty small userbase, but the default setting is to browse All, so splitting up posting across more comms shouldn't reduce the pool of posts, and having more specific communities if anything should inspire more posting. Anything that has repeat issues with self-moderating can be locked or deleted, but I don't really see the issue with letting people go wild on this. The freedom to create your own little space, niche specialty community, or novelty gag community inspires a lot of creative posting in my experience and could bring in new users as well. We may not want to lifeboat any big subreddits, but letting people set up their own little spaces can't hurt too much, right?

Let new comms live and die by people's actual usage of them, rather than not letting any exist in the first place. If we have posts on this comm getting 15+ upbears, that is enough posters to get a small community going, no? let alone other posts getting 30-50 upbears, often with well known community members volunteering to moderate and still no response. And those are just the people posting and upbearing despite most of us knowing full well new comms basically never get approved. The current system just isn't working, IMO.

Admins, if there is something I'm missing here that makes this an intractable problem I'm open to hearing it. If that is the case, can we set objective criteria for creating a comm rather than defaulting to "admins ignored your post: denied"?

Everyone else: do you have any thoughts on this? I think it could work. Obviously if comms cause issues they can just be nuked. I'm fine with aggressive moderation, but as it stands now I think creativity is being stifled.

With the deletion of the subreddits, /r/Chapotraphouse3, a community dedicated to not posting, was deleted. Could we get a community here to not post in?

I envision "LibRehab" as somewhere to point people to when they showcase clear signs of Liberalism (not in a mean way).

Posts would be a mix of simplified theory, countering of historical revisionism / anti-communist talking points, and a nonjudgemental space for those on the journey of deprogramming their mind.
