That's a fun challenge. If dragons had evolved naturally rather than magically, they'd have to obey the same biological and physical laws as every other animal.
Here are some of the features a realistic dragon would probably have:

It would probably be a reptile. Think of a cross between a monitor lizard, crocodile, bird, and bat. Reptilian scales would protect it, but it would likely have bird-like lungs because birds have the most efficient respiratory system of any living land animals.

Four limbs plus wings is unlikely. The classic dragon has six limbs (four legs and two wings), but no known vertebrate has evolved that body plan. A more realistic dragon would likely have:
Two hind legs.
Two forelimbs modified into wings, like bats or pterosaurs. This is called a "wyvern" body plan.

Hollow bones. To get something that weighs hundreds of pounds into the air, its bones would need to be hollow yet reinforced internally, much like those of birds.

Huge chest muscles. Its breastbone would have a large keel, similar to an eagle's, providing attachment points for enormous flight muscles.

A long tail. A muscular tail could act as a rudder in flight and help balance the animal when walking.

Fire breathing? This is the hardest part, but here's a possible mechanism:
Specialized stomach bacteria could produce methane or hydrogen.
The gas could be stored in sacs.
A spark might come from minerals rubbed together or specialized cells capable of producing an electrical discharge. The dragon wouldn't create fire constantly—it would release a short burst that ignites as it leaves the mouth.
- Diet. A dragon would need an incredible amount of food. It might:
Hunt deer, wild pigs, or livestock.
Glide long distances to conserve energy.
Spend much of its day resting, similar to large birds of prey.
- Intelligence. It would probably be about as intelligent as a raven or crocodile—smart enough to solve problems, remember locations, and learn from experience, but not necessarily capable of human-like reasoning.
One interesting question is how big a dragon could get. Physics becomes a major limitation. Something around the size of a horse might still be able to fly if it had enormous wings and was built very lightly. A dragon the size of a house, like those in fantasy stories, almost certainly couldn't take off under Earth's gravity.
