Bandcamp now implements the Subsonic API, which will allow you to stream your collection through the Subsonic clients that we support. (Right now, that’s Amperfy, Feishin, and Submariner. Others may work, you’re welcome to try.)

To get started, go to Fan Settings, scroll down to Subsonic, and generate your credentials. You can then add Bandcamp as a Subsonic or OpenSubsonic server in your Subsonic client with the server URL https://bandcamp.com/api/subsonic.

This is huge because it's a streaming company allowing your library to be consumed over an open standard (Subsonic API), rather than being locked down into some proprietary streaming app. Of course, with Bandcamp you could always just download the files, but if you streamed from the Bandcamp app, now you can alternatively stream over the open Subsonic API.

What it means is that you can use any desktop Subsonic client and type in Bandcamp's subsonic api address then view and play your collection from there.

It's a bit like a hypothetical situation where Spotify decides that their app is trash and lets people use any other music client rather than having to always use Spotify's own app.

So far, there’s only a BlueSky post from someone claiming to be one of the laid-off engineers, but if confirmed, it doesn’t bode well.

Just saw it, so I don't know its quirks yet. <.< Still, liking the idea of user-curated lists, I'm glad another DRM-free-oriented service added such lists instead of removing them.

I was browsing the internet and stumbled across one of those “How much you should have saved by your age” charts. I got scared, held my breath, and slammed the tab shut immediately. Then I remembered I’m dropping a beat tape called Grid. My love life is still off the grid, but at least the beats are right on it. I tried to make a spark with someone, but apparently my flirting skills still need more Flint.

This morning, I was waiting in line for a bathroom stall at my local train station when a guy ran up to me, handed me a $10 bill, and said, “I’m so sorry! I really admire Bandcamp because I think it's fertile ground for combining diversity and quality. And I browse there a lot. But there's one artist, with an unbelievable number of creations, who completely captivated me. I think his page there is really like a labyrinth. He himself has given an interview where he mentions this, if I remember correctly. And I love getting lost there. Because I've found myself there a lot. I tried to condense, in these first posts I've made, a kind of summary, and here it is!

Otacílio Melgaço’s music is often described as “obscure,” not as an objection, but as an artistic trait that sets it apart in a frequently predictable landscape. This obscurity may stem from enigmatic lyrics, dense atmospheres, or unconventional arrangements that invite a more attentive and interpretive listening experience. Rather than revealing everything immediately, his work seems to hold layers, requiring time and sensitivity to be fully absorbed—and that is precisely where its value lies. This mysterious quality enriches the musical experience, turning each listen into a discovery, which is worthy of praise in a world where so much is made to be consumed quickly and forgotten just as fast.
