A missing persons case has now turned into a homicide investigation after police found human remains in the backyard of a Litchfield Park home. Avondale police confirmed on Thursday that detectives are working to recover two unidentified bodies buried in the backyard of the home near Litchfield Road and Wigwam Boulevard. The investigation began after family members requested a welfare check on a husband, wife and their son, identified as Matthew Flores, 27.

Deana Salter, a teacher at Somerton Middle School, was arrested Monday after a staff member discovered her unattended makeup bag on campus. Inside the bag, officials found about 4.35 grams of meth.

Lieutenant Sam Pavlak of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said a staff member found the bag and looked inside to identify its owner. Instead, the employee uncovered the illicit drugs.

A Phoenix family is demanding answers after police shot and killed a man they say was trying to stop an intruder. Just days after prosecutors declined to file charges against the officer, the family is calling on the Arizona Attorney General to step in and take action. A measure to expand abortion access will go before Arizona voters in November.

The state Supreme Court has rejected a bid by abortion opponents to block the issue from the ballot.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix predicted that most of Arizona is going to have below-normal precipitation during the monsoon with above-normal temperatures, meaning Arizonans can face a hot and dry summer.

The Flagstaff city council and Gov. Hobbs are asking President Biden to create a national monument of a million acres around the Grand Canyon to protect it from mining.

A wet monsoon would be good to keep the whole state from catching on fire after a wet winter encouraged growth. That may not be in the cards though
