I guess you're not wrong, it definitely wasn't cheap. I bought the components during a Black Friday sale, so I was able to save several hundred, though.
I built a new high end system a couple years ago, and I'm glad I did, since it may have to last for the foreseeable future.

I enjoyed Infinite as well. The story was good enough to keep me hooked, and despite you having to escort Elizabeth or the majority of the game, she didn't feel like a burden.
I used Wallpaper Engine for a bit and was amused when I found the anime filter option, but there is a lot of it. I'm not surprised to hear that bad actors found a way to exploit its popularity.
Battlemage is probably my favorite fantasy archetype. I like the idea of being to effectively use weapons and magic, or using them together to even greater effect.
I enjoyed Tactics, but that was also when it was relatively new. It may be worth checking out still if you like squad-based strategy games.
I got new Liftmaster garage doors installed this past January. I haven't installed the app and I have no plans to. I didn't even consider different brands or features at the time; I just wanted door that open and close when you push the buttons. So far, they have been fine, and the integrated battery backup came in handy once as well.

GW2 is my favorite MMO (despite having put more time into WoW), and I'm hopeful GW3 ends up being of similar quality. Anet is a good company and has plenty of passionate employees, so I'm hoping they can pull it off.
The few seconds of gameplay they showed didn't look very promising.

This is probably my most involved project so far. I liked the Nether Emperor ever since it was first announced, but the color scheme did not say "nether" to me, so I changed that. I learned a lot, especially in regards to shading. I applied some orange fluorescent paint as a wash to the inner frame to give it a molten look.
Nothing too fancy with this one, just panel lining, G-Rework decals, and matte topcoat.
This is a special edition of MG Freedom 2.0 with Cross Contrast and clear colors. It also came with unique water slide decals and a clear Action Base 1 instead of the crappy stand that other MG Seed kits get. I panel lined with silver enamel paint and sprayed matte topcoat to give the clear parts a frosty look.
Now that I'm done with model shows for a while, I've shifted gears and decided to work on some girlpla for a while. This one is mostly a straight build, with a bit of panel lining, some decals, and matte topcoat. Overall, it's a good build, and great value for what comes in the box, including 2 full models and lots of accessories, not to mention pre-painted and detailed pieces.
I played with lighting a bit to see if I could get it to glow more.
Inspired by the P-Bandai iron-blooded coating kits, I decided I could make my own and do it better. I used the ZeroPlan Wolf Claw kit as well.
