In the past week I've been absolutely roasted for criticising two different countries. Normally I'd be okay with that, I can handle a mild toasting and after all debate is a good thing.

On both occasions though I was flamed for mentioning human rights issues that are established facts and have been known for many, many years. I was critical of the actions/laws of their governments and not the people, their race, religion, general political ideology or nationality.

On both occasions I was bombarded by long posts that parroted propaganda, and in the case of one country I was told (on multiple occasions) that I was ignorant, racist and even fascist for mentioning the issues I did. I'm not complaining about how I was treated, but as a reminder, I was discussing internationally-recognised human rights concerns that can be verified and based in fact.

I could just be paranoid but I'm fairly convinced the responses weren't from patriotic citizens. I think they were paid trolls or bots, and I think their purpose was to quiet negative talking points about the countries that were mentioned.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have an lxc running a VPN, and where the host needs to access the internet (e.g. doing updates) I want to force that through the lxc VPN.

I dont want to interfere with local lan or cluster traffic - so just setting a default route isn't appropriate. Likewise I'm not sure just installing the VPN on the host is the right idea.

I'm pretty sure there is a way of doing it... its just not coming to me 😅

What is the best way to provide internet access to guests on a Proxmox VXLAN? Is it:

1. One node (host) in the cluster is the default gateway, all traffic is routed through it. Sounds clean and simple but there's multiple layers of jank to get it working, if it works at all
2. Have a guest (lxc or VM) on the VXLAN act as a gateway. Give it two NICs - one on the vnet and another on the hosts bridge (physical lan), route traffic through the second.

My default approach is the first but despite hours of tinkering and forwarding tricks it never works. I'm leaning more to the second but having a dedicated gateway guest seems like a waste of resources - logically the host should be doing it.

And yes, SNAT is enabled 😅

Say ww3 kicks off and power goes off - how are you keeping your servers up? Solar panels and batteries?

What if there's a biblical flood and you dont have the means to build an arc? All your servers are destroyed beyond repair?

What if you heard the Feds are coming to cart you and your servers away cos they suspect you of bad mouthing Emperor Tromp? (you're on the run or subject to months of torture and yeah, you're never getting your kit back)

What if theres a war and Luxembourg (you know, the enemy) let's of an EMP pulse that kills your servers and all the infrastructure (power, internet...). How do you access all those cherished pics on Immich?

I'm not suggesting any of this will/can happen, its all just for lols, but have you made any contingency plans? Big binders full of printouts, bug-out bags, those flower-type solar things that track the sun, Faraday cages....
