So they held very socially conservative views, yet they didn't support the Republican Party and hated Trump. Why is that? Why would someone hate MAGA while basically agreeing with many of the same social positions?

Believing in the traditional social order is different from believing people should hold no values at all, which is what Trump does. You can reverse it for LGBT Republicans- they can support the social order without holding any moral values.
