Idk, we seem to draw arbitrary lines for different companies. I still buy gasoline despite the horrible things the oil industry has done and is continuing to do. A VPN company providing a good anonymous service having a CEO donating to a right-wing candidate is pretty small beans by comparison

    Sure, no one denies that but you're missing the point. The point is that people in power claim that we can't have socialism, because it would lead to the aforementioned problems, completely ignoring the fact that we have those problems under capitalism anyways.

    No, we often have to prescribe morality broadly, because engaging with the nuance with every instance is not really viable on a societal level. What are the chances that someone engaging with roadkill on the side of the road actually accidentally killed the animal, versus them doing it intentionally and claiming it was an accident? What would happen if this behaviour was normalized?
