Ouch, can't do horror, but otherwise I love the idea. A princess who just punches everything… reminds me a bit of May I Ask for One Final Thing? (anime/manga) where the protagonist is a princess who loves to punch things.

Mods are allowed, but you’re not allowed to make any for you to play. You can try to commission someone else to make them for you, though

For gamers looking for ways to "get a new game" while still staying under these restrictions, it seems you pick a game with a ton of mods and an easy-to-mod and/or well-documented codebase so that the modders you hire are more willing to say yes to you.

    • The Sims (not sure which one though)
    • Skyrim (all the mods)
    • Stardew Valley (mods, plus has been go-to #2 for gaming with friends in my social circles)
    • Minecraft (mods, plus has been go-to #1 for gaming with friends in my social circles)
    • Factorio
    • Pokémon Soul Silver (we have ROM hacks!)
    • Crusader Kings 3
    • I was going to put a puzzle game here but I sadly don't remember which one
    • either Kittens Game or Antimatter Dimensions. Long-lived incremental games. Gave up on Antimatter Dimensions after a certain point, but it by far has the most of my Steam hours. Limited to 10 games I'd probably pick it back up again.
    • either holding out for some masterful innovation in the visual novel genre, specifically one aimed at women; or Infinity Nikki, because if I get all the DLC automatically (or magically through an unlock process more like that in pay-once games) that means I can just enjoy a pretty game and forget about all the gacha stuff.

The 3D turned me off in the previews and then I watched my friend play in real life. Much less confusing and more easily comprehensible than I thought.

One wonders how I navigate real-life 3D environments fine.

    Rat/mouse games

    • Ratopia, survival and city building of cute rats
    • Whiskerwood, city builder with rats under the oppressive thumb of cats, choose if you'll appease or start a revolution
    • Ratropolis, roguelite, tower defense, city-building, and deck-building with rat citizens again
    • Rocket Rats, tagged Survivors-like
    • Rat Trap, tagged Metroidvania and Puzzle Platformer
    • Small Saga (play as a mouse seeking revenge against the god who stole his tail, turn-based RPG
    • Ghost of a Tale (mouse in medieval world only populated by animals)

This list only exists because I answered some questions on Games in which you play as an animal (or colony / group)? and coincidentally ended up remembering (or later finding on Lemmy) a lot of games that happened to have rat or mouse protagonists.

Added stuff I forgot. Somehow a lot turned out to be rat/mouse games.

    Non-rat/mouse

    • Against the Storm is a roguelite city builder, with animals although there are humans too. So not sure if it merits inclusion then.

Museum of source code: A gift that appears after 10,000 engineers graduate from university

LOL, source code of the game? Cute (meant genuinely, not in a condescending way)

No alt text option, so here we go:

alt textA 4chan post by Anonymous, Edgy PCs but not, from March 20, 2019. There is an image of Komi-san from Komi Cannot Communicate, colored to look more like a D&D Drow.

    > Player Character

    > Drow Rogue

    > Sat in dark corner of tavern, glowering at everyone, playing with a dagger

    >Actually is really friendly

    >The dark corner is easier on their light sensitive eyes

    >Squinting because of the fireplace

    >Really wants to talk to people and make friends but is very shy

    >Dagger is a good luck present from her mum and reminds her of home

    Soup Sourcebook (lemmy.zip)

No alt text option, so here we go:

alt textA social media post, showing a person holding Trader Joe's Chicken Noodle Soup with Veggies. The font looks like that on the cover of Dungeons & Dragons sourcebooks, hence the caption "Why did they make this soup look like a 5th edition D&D sourcebook"

I am not being given the option for alt text, so here it is.

alt textA tumblr image post. The image is a question-and-answer prompt mimicking the prompts shown on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The question is "Which is the first Pokemon?" with the answer options:

    • A) Bulbasaur
    • B) Mew
    • C) Rhydon
    • D) Arceus The image is followed by the reblogs of tumblr users.

@darthshadow reblogs with "Well fuck you too."

@askradicalgoodspeed reblogs with "For those that do not get this: Bulbasaur is the first on the pokedex, Mew is the genetic ancestor to all Pokemon Rhydon was the first Pokemon ever created, and Arceus created the universe so it is also technically the first in that came before everything, even space and time. Therefore there is no correct answer"

@falcnpunch reblogs with "pokemon aint real hows that answer"

@doasdreamrsdo reblogs with "YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH"
