Going to migrate to infrastructure as code for my documentation

This is the way to do it. Using basic config management and never handjamming anything. I use the git commit log to make notes. That way, later I can check when a file was added or changed and see the explanation for it.

    No Fast Format is needed on a modern linux system with a modern filesystem. Outside of very specific tuned workloads, it won't make any noticable difference as linux already is detecting and optimizing for the 4k physical sectors.

    My grandfather, atheist for all my life, always invited the missionaries in to talk. When I asked him why he said they are good helpers and you just have to act like you are curious about what they want to say and they will do all your chores while they tell you about Jesus.

    Ah, in that case I'd try OBS. You can capture and "share" half your screen with OBS if your meeting software works with the OBS camera output. You add your camera as a source in OBS if you also want to be on the screen while sharing.

We are looking into accounts which fall into the uncanny valley. Accounts not marked as bots which act very bot-like with no obvious motive.

    Is Plex really Self Hosting? (piefed.zip)
     

    I've been thinking about this more and more. According to the sidebar, this community is "A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don’t control." Based on that I don't think Plex qualifies.

    Privacy: Plex clearly records the metadata of what you watch. When I used it, it would send me a report by email of what my "friends" were watching. Even with that turned off, their services still track telemetry.

    Control: Plex has all of it. They can (and do) make unilateral changes to the service, how authentication works, where you can run it, etc.

    So I ask, when you are hosting something that is entirely dependent on a commercial entity to function, is Plex really selfhosting in the spirit of this community?

    After deciding that she has a bad shopping habit, a friend of mine challenged herself to not purchase any new items in 2026. Now she is only shopping yard sales and charity stores. She is focusing more on offline hobbies so it sort of fits.

    This brings us to the puzzle. She got a super 80s looking 1000 piece puzzle with a pictures of two white tigers on it at a charity store. After working on it off and on for a few weeks she discovered that it is missing 3 pieces.

    She found an old frame for it and hung it up anyway. She says it is complete because that's how it came to her. Is it really complete or is it simply an incomplete puzzle on the wall? Or both somehow?

    Edit: Just to be clear, we are not having an argument about this. We both found the topic interesting to discuss and couldn't really decide on any single answer.
