It's a brand.
Surely he can't go on for that much longer. Listen to him speak.
I say, more to myself than anyone else
I self hosted matrix for probably a year after me and some people started getting spam on telegram. It was the first thing I really self hosted beyond jellyfin (and plex before that) so I didn't really fully understand what was I doing and that could have affected things.
I had a few hurdles that made it not work out for me and my friends/family. First, the end to end encryption, one of the main "selling" points I feel, makes it complicated to sign in for people who don't care about any of that. You end up getting a code to save, I had to verify them at first, we'd have times where something still showed unverified, etc.
Just started hosting nextcloud recently and I'm also seeing the notification issue, but at least you just sign up and start using it.
I also noticed in matrix we never got notifications for emoji reactions (which we all use with each other). Other notifications were relatively solid though.
I never got webrtc and some stuff working and I sort of lost steam trying, so we could use element or fluffychat but not element X and we couldn't have big group calls or anything like that. That's probably on me though, but in fairness nextcloud aio just has a checkbox and all that stuff works.
Since I'm the only dork in my little group interested in this stuff I abandoned matrix when nobody used it.
I also got lucky with my direct coworkers, they're great. Some of the people from other teams.. eh.
I just need to get things squared away so that I can get a good year or two into an apprenticeship, assuming union, then I'd be doing fine financially and by the time I'd get to journeyman I'd be making a little more than currently.
But boy that's getting tougher to do every day. Rents up, utilities are up, groceries are up. I'm already self hosting several things that have cut out most of my subscriptions (just started hosting music, and it's actually pretty good, no "discovery" but I'm solving that with excessive numbers). It's a process, but I'm hopeful I'll get there in about a year. Also a bit worried I do all this and hate the new thing too lol.
In any case good luck to you.
I feel you. I'm thinking of getting out of my dead end office job (dead end unless I want to get into management, and I don't) and apprenticing as an electrician or something. Yeah it's physically harder but I'm just sick of what I'm doing.
Can't take the paycut yet though.
Unless it's within the last day or two, hexbear hasn't gone anywhere. The instance I'm on hasn't defederated from them and I haven't blocked them and I see their stuff all the time.
You throw money at him on patreon nowadays and ask on there. Then they might put it on an episode.
30s male - Most days, sometimes multiple times. Lately it's been a lot. Not sure what that's about.
Police snipers need the capability to hit the junction of the brain and brain stem at extended distances. Hitting and destroying this point at the back of the human head with a single bullet causes the person to instantly and completely collapse without reflex. Snipers call this spot "the apricot."
In a way, this in a way is back to the original meaning.
You know I haven't thought about it like that but you're right. I was still on "everything they don't like is woke now" but yeah that's sort of the same idea from the other side.
I think the joke is the absurdity and surprise of it.
It's decent. Doesn't get a ton of updates, like the quality setting is a little broken - if you have source selected sometimes it'll be 480 when you switch streams, but if you choose auto it'll work fine.
