Pale, brooding, adverse to sunlight and attracted to strange period clothing. It's no wonder that Goths became so strongly associated with vampires as early on as Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead." Naturally, there are Goths out there who take their love of vampires one step further. They're the ones who might don black capes and sunglasses when they go out during the day, join "vampire societies," and whose bookshelves are filled with Anne Rice and White Wolf rule books. They've watched all the Dracula movies out there and are planning on visiting Romania next summer (failing that, Whitby). And they're very partial to red wine, but not so keen on garlic.

Quick to pick up on the popularity of vampires within the subculture, a large number of Goth and Goth-related bands have done a "vampire song," although more vampire-friendly ones include Nosferatu, Inkubus Sukkubus and, of course, Theatres des Vampires.

Because they generally don't take themselves too seriously and love Goth for both its romantic grace and its cheesy overtones, Vampire Goths are normally very fun people to be around. Just don't let them get too close to your neck.

There is false vampire bats and true vampire bats. Learn the difference.

They are called false vampire bats because they bear a striking similarity to actual vampire bats. But they are just carnivorous little freaks.

Piefed's own @klu9@piefed.social is organizing a Watch Party this Sunday over on Mastodon: "Planet of the Vampires." I haven't seen it, and apparently the creatures are more like zombies than vampires, but... but... according to the movie title they identify as vampires? Anyway, supposedly it's a pretty good scifi/horror movie (for a B- / Cult- movie, I assume, it ain't a big budget Hollywood thing...) and it apparently inspired Alien, Prometheus, Mission to Mars, and a couple others.
