Hey there,

I was wondering why nothing was showing Up for two days. So I reinstalled Blorp and now getting a fetch Error when trying to Login to Piefed.zip.

Downloaded Blorp from F-Droid.

Couldn't find Something reporting this issue already.

I think other Lemmy apps can make individual posts invisible while still preserving visibility of their community. Can this be done in Blorp? I can't find a way to do this.

On Blorp v1.14.0-0ea2c64:

  1. Find a comment that's 5 comments deep into a thread (so that the next reply will be hidden in a "more" prompt for further reading)
  2. Reply to it
  3. It will look like it didn't submit until you manually refresh the entire post
4

Maybe they changed the API and Blorp needs to be updated for the new configuration as well...?

When sorting stuff by "Top," the further options say "Months" but also "Hour" when they should all be plural, no?

I thought Blorp supported PieFed tags, but they’re not showing up for me, and I can’t seem to figure out why. What am I missing?

  1. Type some text.
  2. Highlight that text.
  3. Press the spoiler button.

Expected result: It should put the text in the spoiler body.

Current result: It deletes the text completely and just puts the default spoiler template, requiring you to undo to retrieve your typed text (sucks for keyboards that don't have an "undo" button; go HeliBoard!).

When I click an external link from inside the app, Blorp replicates appears to open a new instance of my default browser, including all of its current tabs. It's slightly confusing because closing the tab I opened from some thread means I now have two identical browsers open, but one of them is Blorp 😉

I realise I'm just supposed to hit the back button to be returned to the app UI, but I'm new to Blorp and very familiar with my browser. You see how habits win out over what I rationally know I should do...

Did I miss some setting to open links in an internal, single tab browser instead?

The first link in this comment makes Blorp go to a broken-link screen that Android can't back out of, requiring Blorp to be closed from Android's multitask button to be able to be usable again. (I wonder if this is tied to the fact that you can't just back out of Blorp all the way to the home screen; you must press the home button, which I greatly dislike...)

It would be nice to be able to press-hold on links to see where they go, share, or copy them instead of having to open them. In fact, Summit, if I recall correctly, even generates live a thumbnail image preview of the destination link before you open it!

There seems to be no way to tell whether you're subscribed to a community or not until you check it.

I read the post, I commented, and I got the response from the author of the post as a comment to mine, but when I tap it to go reply to it, in the post I can't actually see the comment at all. It's like it doesn't exist. However, it does show in my inbox, but Blorp can't reply directly from the inbox.

Is this a federation issue or a Blorp issue? I'm not really sure of how this sort of visibility thing works across Lemmy.

When browsing through either any community, or the profile of any user, with limited history (like only a few posts' and comments' worth of content) that total to <1 page, Blorp still shows a 2nd page, which is blank when you try to check it.

13

I saw a user comment a need for mods for their community but they didn't state what exactly the community was, yet I don't see a way to discreetly check for what comms they mod purely in Blorp.

I couldn't find out how to download images at first because they're tucked exclusively in the share arrow, which is only where I'd think one would be passing the link or image to others, not where I'd go to download it for myself. Could "Download image" be moved or at least copied over to the 3-dot menu? That'd be very helpful!

It'd be great if in the community tab when checking the options for a post, you could just join that community right there without having to go to the community; there currently seems to be no such option.

16

Is there just no search button inside posts? I couldn't find any.

(Demonstrated at this link)

I don't think I have ever seen a Lemmy client that shows image alt text at all, or in this clear way. That's pretty cool!

I guess my one concern about it would be whether the button itself would obscure that corner part of the image if artwork was there, but that's no big deal.

  1. Enable haptic feedback reduction in the settings
  2. Start typing or editing any post or comment body
  3. Open the deeper markdown menu to access unordered lists
  4. Put your finger on unordered lists, change your mind, and drag your finger without having let go straight to ordered lists
  5. Feel the earthquake under your finger

Update: apparently, this also still happens in the save post-share-report menu.

Thunder is great at displaying the number of comments for each displayed crosspost of the currently viewed post. This helps me find out where further discussions of the topic at hand are separately happening, as opposed to me poking through several crosspost links only to find out that there is nothing going on there.

Alternatively, seeing 0 comments can help me more quickly decide to go to those links to intentionally seed more activity among the crossposts (and help Lemmy's "bustling" appearance to would-be members and redditor converts), haha.

Regardless, it's always nice to see the comment count before tapping crosspost links.

Additionally, it would be great to press-hold on crosspost links and copy them without having to open them.

It'd make for way easier post title-editing/-updating.

Additionally, on my S25 (in portrait orientation, of course), I'm having some sort of issue with the last character displaying off-screen unless I manually swipe left to see it. I can't seem to reproduce it reliably but it's happened at least 3-4x now ever since I've revisited Blorp and it can be just a bit bothersome.

So far, press-holding on a user's profile link does nothing different than just tapping. More ways to do stuff are generally welcome, as is basically Summit's UI principle (even though I left it because its search engine was too capable of doing the same things in weird ways lol).

Try to type:

\*Dun, dun, *duuuuuun*\*

It instead becomes:

*Dun, dun, *duuuuuun*

This causes it to be impossible to surround the full text with asterisks while italicizing inside.

  1. In the overview, see a cool post and upvote it
  2. Watch the vote total change (if other people have upvoted it since your loading) by a neat, slots machine-like vertical rotation
  3. Watch the comment total instantly replace to the new total with no such animation

I love this anim! It'd be cool to see more of it.

I was replying to a larger comment by someone else and I couldn't figure out how to highlight and copy to paste into my own reply just a part of their longer comment. How do you do this? The only workaround I could think of was to back out and be able to highlight sentences in the comment from the main view of the post, not in the drafting section of my reply.

Only some of the Web 1.0 button icons actually press in; for example, the button to read a post's comments from a community does not press in when you tap it. That would be neat to have; might as well go all the way with this nice retro theme, right?

Edit: and, apparently, even the "Post" and "Update" buttons when submitting and editing posts... They only press in if you press-hold on them, not tap.
